motor oil corrosive? it's in your car's engine. So no... I don't see it as corrosive. And it's not on your gun anywhere near that long. But no.... you'll never be offensive here.... at least not on my threads. good question. If I kept it on my gun for the next 25000 miles... maybe. but it comes and goes quickly.

Dunno if I mentioned this before, but I used Hoppes 9 for years to clean everything on the pistol..then the Wilson rep advised me that it is a solvent, and NOT to use it on painted finishes like Armor Tuff, ect..as it will eventually eat it off the pistol. I knew Shooter's Choice would do this, but never connected Hoppe's to being a solvent..so I read the bottle. Makes sense..it's designed to remove copper and lead fouling from the bore. So now I use CLP on the frame and slide. Just s heads up

RP... I hadn't thought of #9 being a solvent either... but of course it is, and the paint like finishes might begin to peel back eventually. Most of mine are SS so its not a big problem... but good to know.
