For those who may not have seen my 1911 gun porn post, and for those who have, here is a follow up.
The pistol, a Fusion Freedom CCO, was purchased NIB from Volusia Top Gun. Looked great on display. Dripping with oil. Wiped it down, went into the gun range, which VTG didn't charge for, and ran approximately 100 rounds through it. Very impressed with the performance. Got it home, disassembled it for cleaning and found an inordinate number of wear spots, many where they should not be. After a few emails and FB posts here is the final disposition from Tyler Serva at Fusion. This is the coating they use. The tightness of the gun causes the wear. (It is the standard black oxide finish). They offered to take the gun back to be redipped in the bluing tank. I told him thanks but no thanks. I also told him I would let as many people know as possible about the quality of their firearms. Bottom line---- STAY AWAY, unless you want to buy a weapon that needs to be refinished out of the gate. Oh yeah, Paul at Volusia Top Gun is going above and beyond to resolve this, and I've never met him nor did I contact him to help me..

First off, I agree with you and they need to remedy this fault in their build process.
But, let me ask you this. I’m not familiar with Fusion 1911s. Is this a hand fit (semi-custom) pistol like the Dan Wesson’s? Also, did I read correctly that you paid under $800 for this CCO? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No and yes. Fusion does make hand fit semi-customs that are reported to be high quality, but this is not one of them. And price does not should not dictate finish. Think Glock.

Under the slide lock, along the rails (typical), inside the frame just forward of the mag well, and a few other places. There are some pic's in my gun porn thread.

the rails and inside the frame wouldn't bother me but under the slide stop would.

Take a closer look at the first picture, those white spots are wear marks-- down to the metal. Then take a closer look at pic 4 on the ass end above the rails.. Remember this is a new gun with less than 100 rounds thru it. If I'm wrong somebody please convince me, but none of my pistols have worn like this.

Mike does good work, I can attest.
I agree that finish sucks and they need to change it. I was just asking if it was a custom gun but, that doesn’t really matter......it should NOT wear that fast. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
