Oops.
A round I fired too quickly after a squib split the barrel. The ammo manufacturer (Aguila) took care of me though. If the BHP were still in production I guess they would have sent me a check for the MSRP. But since the only “new” ones are Tisas Regents, they sent me a check for one of those. I figured, why not add a few bucks to the kitty and see what’s out there. Gunbroker was full of hi powers with very proud owners, but one company was restoring and duo-toning Israeli Hi Powers and selling them fot $700. I almost got one when I noticed a “like new” early ‘70s era version for sale right here in town. Long story short, I’ve never seen a vintage gun in this good a condition. It’s an early “C” series. The mag disconnect is intact, and the trigger is magnificent. The safety is still stiff like new. It’s truly a time capsule. I don’t want to shoot it! My Mark II may be salvageable if I can dremel the barrel in half and pull it out. New barrels are available. I hope I can resurrect it as my shooter, ‘cause my new one really belongs under glass. |
