My aunt once mailed me a gun she said she found when going through her dad's (my G-dad) stuff after her mom passed. She just mailed it with a note explaining the circumstances, and acknowledging that she knows I collect guns, and she knows nothing about guns. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box to find an 8" sawed off shotgun....

this is when you lived in Hypothetical land right, because you would never admit to receiving a weapon in the mail while living in the US.

I can't control what arrives in my mail box. I'm pretty sure the statute of limitations has run out on that, by now, anyway.

Ron, what you have is a S&W .38Safety Hammerless 5th. Model, based on the S/N, it was made in the early 30s. Without looking at it personally,I'd say it's value rated at Good condition, is about $300.00.

Reference: Standard Catalog of Smith&Wesson, 3rd.Edition.
