The old "Georgia Firearms License" has been replaced by a "Georgia Weapons Carry License". The name change is partly because it also allows you to carry knives with a blade longer than 5" concealed. I may have to start carrying a blade. Open carry and concealed carry are treated equally by law as far as I can tell, but of course if you carry openly, it's possible that you might "frighten" someone who might then call the Police.
So now instead of a two letter "FL" we have a three letter "WCL" bringing us up to speed with all the CCWs, CPLs, CHLs, CPLs, CHPs, CCLs, LCPs... ![]() New laws have made life much easier on WCL holders. Carry is now legal in state parks, churches that explicitly allow it, bars, etc. They have made it much more difficult to get arrested for accidentally carrying in State Government buildings by making it legal except where there are metal detectors to stop you from entering.
