I've seen it done. Just a note, a good knife with hard steel can crack newer windows with the frosted tops. You can accomplish the same thing on a ceramic coffee cup or bottom of a bowl

I've used that skill several times over the years. Mention it in the knife courses when demonstrating the spydie stick sharpening system during breaks. It works, as Pig mentioned don't bear too hard on the window, it's not necessary anyway. Also, a very dull knife will not fair well with this technique.

I can relate to this....the bottom of our ceramic crock pot put a big scratch in the new glass cooktop. I found it fascinating, wife not so much.

I use ceramic coffee cups, plates, bowls, etc. all the time. I hadn't heard of the car window trick, though. Thanks for that.
