I wish you were, as well. I need a good shooting buddy as my number one buddy is out of state.

And, already, I have to delay my 2nd trip to JTAC for another two weeks. They pushed my Long Range Rifle class to 09/04. That's OK, though. I'll try to get registered for it ASAP as I think that's the Sunday before Labor Day. Range will probably be packed. At least I think we'll be on the 500yd range so not so many folks there. I'll get my AR and my RPR zeroed in before then.

Thanks man. I just hope the AR goes "bang" when it's supposed to and stays quiet when it should.

I have no doubts that it won’t do what it’s supposed to. When first shooting a new build I put together, I insert one round at a time. If all goes well, I load two or three. Hopefully it doesn’t go full auto on me.

Great range report, sorry to hear about the AR not cycling. I’m thinking the gas block or tube is not lined up properly with the port on the barrel.

That is the first place I suspected, and where I will look. Problem being, I have to take apart a lot to get to it, and it means painstakingly putting it back.

But I suppose I must.

By any chance….. did you install a heavy buffer and spring in the tube?

No, it was a standard "carbine" buffer set (spring & buffer, etc.). Mid-length barrel.

Update: I think I'm starting to get the eye relief thing under control for the RPR. I will, though, have to resolve the astigmatism issue. For exmaple, when I use my right eye (which I would, normally) to sight in, and I get a good reticle picture, and I then switch to the left eye, the line of sight changes totally. It would appear to be off by the diopter of the astigmatism. So we'll see what needs to happen.

As for the AR-15, I'm thinking of getting a "dimpling jig" to help align the gas port and block....

Are these things worth it? It's only $40.00 but if it helps align the port and block, it's well worth it. Then, all I have to worry about is the tube.
