Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! I guess I'll give you all a little more background on me.
While I've always owned guns and did some hunting in my early youth, I didn't get into anything more than shotguns until the late 80's. Back then, many of you will remember, you could buy a gun from anybody on the street, no questions asked. It was a lot easier to build a collection, so I started mine. Then '94 came, and the laws changed, and it became a lot harder to build a collection. So rather than buying and selling, I concentrated on buying.
Bought my first 1911; a Colt Gold Cup, in 1995, and loved that gun. I joined the Izaak Walton league local chapter and became an NRA Instructor there. I loved teaching new shooters how to shoot.
Then I got the Cowboy Action bug, and did that for a number of years, and still shoot a match or two a year.
So having sold my Gold Cup some years ago, I have really missed a 1911. I just bought a SA Range Officer, literally just picked it up last week, and then gy backed another gun, a Ruger 22/45 mk III when I picked up the RO. Still waiting for the paperwork to come back to pick up the 22/45. I like the idea of being able to shoot cheaply. I love to shoot, and although I have been reloading since the early 90's, it is still expensive to shoot a lot. Money doesn't go as far as it used to, so plinking is just good fun.
Okay, I know I'm a little long winded, but I just felt like sharing. I like the comraderie of sharing my experiences with others, and hearing those of others as well. If there is anyone near the DC area, hit me up, and let's go to the range. I'd like nothing better.
