Hey guys!

New hopeful member here. Just bought my first 1911, a shiny new Dan Wesson Guardian in .45, and it immediately became my favorite handgun after just one day shooting out at the farm. Absolutely love it!

I live in the Northeast part of North Carolina, in Gates County (for those that might know where that it!) and work in Southeast Virginia, in Suffolk. Fifty years old now, been shooting since my dad started teaching me how to shoot on his old M-1 carbine when I was about 5 years old. Still have that carbine and it still looks and shoots great. Been enjoying shooting and hunting pretty much ever since.

I've always wanted a 1911, I've shot a few that friends and family have had over the years and always enjoyed them. Then again, there haven't been many firearms that I've shot that I didn't enjoy. Looked around at different makes and models to try and decide what I wanted, narrowed things down a bit on which size I wanted, then started looking at manufacturers. Thought I was going to go with a Kimber Super Carry Pro, but then found out about the Dan Wesson 1911's. I remember the Dan Wesson revolvers from back in the 80's and such but wasn't aware they were still around and also making 1911's. I am SO GLAD I found out about them before I bought the Kimber. I have friends that have Kimbers and they like them okay, but this Dan Wesson is definitely a cut above. I could have bought a more expensive pistol (I looked at the Wilson Combat and Ed Brown models too) but for the price I believe the Dan Wesson is in a class by itself. And although I might could imagine being "as" happy with another gun, I know that there is no way I could be any happier than with my Guardian. The way is looks, handles and shoots is a thing of pure beauty.

Thanks to Deacon himself, NAMVET72 for directing me to this home of enlightenment. I hope to be able to post some pics of my new darlin' soon, my daughter has the camera off at college.
