I know this is an older thread, but was going to do a product review on my M1911 knife, and did a search first and found this thread.
Looks like some of you guys already found this gem, and have purchased it. Olympus do you still sell them? Are they still the great quality they were when I got mine? as I believe its a Gen 3. I'd like to install slim grips on mine, but need the bushings, and the grips heheh If anyone wants me to do a product review on this with some pictures, let me know, I actually carry mine almost daily, and really do love it! -S.c.o.t.t. |

Howdy All
I have two of the 1911 knives , one large and one small . The trick is to learn how to open it and work in the knife action, but that is easy. you can do that while watch T.V. or reading the COTEP site. The real trick is learning how to close it one handed with out taking off your fingers. I got mine for the developer when he came out with them and almost lost a finger learning how to close it. I suggest putting some tape on your fingers if you are going to practice one handed closing.... I have some very interesting grips on mine and I will take some photos and post them in the morning. But be prepared that they are "X" rated on one and nice wood on the other. The case that comes with it is ok, not great so I had my Holster maker make me a carrying be;t case for them. All in all I would buy one if I did not have one for my collection.. ![]()

![]() As far as slim grips and bushings, I do not think that will be possible. Unless the new ownership has changed the design of the knife, the Ultimate Equipment version had staked bushings that you could not remove. There'd be no way of removing the normal bushings for slim bushings without damaging the knife.
