Default A Different kind of Long-gun

Well, picked up a new toy tonight. Bought a Beeman Silver Kodiak X2 'Switch-Barrel' Air Rifle. Yep, comes with two quick-change barrels, one in .177 and one in .22. Claimed velocities are ;up to 1250fps with .177PDA Pellets and, 950fps in .22.

Pictures later.

Interesting choice, Dave. My younger son looked at one but went with a .22/20 gauge Rossi instead. Curious how this runs for you, cause I do need another rifle.

That is cool gun. I have picked up Savage 24C that .22/20ga. That is a sweet gun.

The biggest pain in the a** you'll probably ever have to deal with watches you from the mirror every morning.

Good judgment comes from experience, and most of that comes from bad judgment.

If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.

I have the Beeman Kodiak in .25. Quiet and awesome gun. And the squirrels hate it! LOL

Dave,

PDA ammo is kind of a joke. It is to light. Pushing the pellet close to the speed of sound diminishes accuracy considerably.

Most air guns achieve best accuracy with what ever pellet keeps the fps around 875-900. By picking a heavier grain pellet and shooting at the slower speed you will still see modest increases in FPE.

Here is my new toy

Day state air ranger 30 fpe version. Shoots a .22 18.1 grain at 905 fps. Hawke scope. I have the tank and shoe box compressor coming for it. I should be able to have a quarter size group at 75 yds if i do my part.

If you don't yet have a PCP (pre-charged pneumatic) air gun...yes, you do need another. I bought one recently, a Hatsan, and what an eye-opener. Suppressed, it's completelyly silent and easily head-shot kills squirrels at 75 yards.

I did the same thing as randal. I have been jonseing for a day state air ranger for 2 years. I picked one up from long island with a hugget shroud (term for suppressor for air rifles). It is very quiet. Again, extremely accurate out to about 100 yds if you do your part. I have 60-70 yd max in my back yard for squirrel, chipmunk, and rat control. I will dial this in and go to town this spring.

Just spend an hour or so watching teds videos.
