Default A few pics of my build

I noticed the humidity of Missouri spring season was trying to rust my bare parts even with oil on them....so I blew some paint over them until I can get back to working on it. I figured it was a nice time to throw a couple pics up of where I left off on it since you can see what it will look like black :-)

Thats not a buggered serration on the slide...I bumped some paint off when it was still soft lol

Did you put a build list together.

Thanks DB Here's whats in it so far:
1991-A1 Commander slide and barrel
Foster officer reciever
Walnut thin grips by Cap
Colt thumb and grip safeties and hammer strut
Ed Brown Hardcore extractor, hammer, and firing pin
Ed Brown Perfection sear and disco
Greider slide stop
EGW oversize firing pin stop and pin kit
Harrison Design medium trigger
All Wolff springs:23 mianspring and 18 recoil
have an Ed Brown perfection ejector, but may go with an EGW
the barrel-bushing, msh, mag release, and plug are just old junker parts...they will be replaced before its all sent off for a finish.

I'll do a complete build thread once Im finished; I have lots of pics

Do you plan on just painting it or going with a metal treatment when its all finished? Looks good so far.

Since it will be my primary carry 1911, Im thinking it will get a treatment for durability and corrosion resistance. I may give that Atranite a try. The barrel isnt stainless, but might have it hard-chromed just to break things up.

Yes, its essentially the same type of treatment Coal Creek Armory calls Isonite QPQ and DW calls Duty Treatment. Also is known as melonite too.

I think it's a Nitrite bath treatment lol (chemistry is not my strong suit lol).

My chemistry stinks too.....but it sounds like that treatment should treat you right.

Looks like good work Marine. That is going to be a good looker for sure. I'll bet it gives you great satisfaction that it is yours.

What did your DI used to say? There are many like it but this one is mine? Not so you made this one unique.

thanks Bill

I wanted a CCO real-bad lol.....and couldnt budget one in right now, so I scrounged up a top-end and ran with it from there. To me, it's the perfect carry size 1911. I wanted a rugged, all-steel carry gun that could take whatever I put it through....so Im glad I just built one instead of saving up. No aluminum, no plastic....and no large, snagging safeties...something not found on current offerings.
