Question about V-Bob "Blem"

I recently sold a Smith & Wesson AR15, and went to the Miami gun show a couple of weeks ago looking to 'invest" the proceeds in a blued Colt Commander. Shoot Straight, one of the largest LGS in Florida had what I was looking for. About 5 feet away on the table, however, they also had a few DW "blems" including a black V-Bob. It was tagged at just under $1,800. The salesman told me I could have it for about $1450 if I paid cash. That was about $500 more than I had with me, or was planning to spend.

BUT, the difference between the blued Colt Commander and V-Bob was like night and day! I left the gunshow without making a purchase. I have placed an XD .45 compact for sale. If/when it sells I will likely go see if Shoot Straight still has the blem V-Bob.

So. . . my question is whether there is any downside to buying a blem? Anything to watch out for? Upon close inspection of the exterior, I could see absolutely nothing amiss. Any insight would be appreciated.

Most "blems" I've seen are with the finish, usually not noticeable. You will get an upside down Y in the serial number also. If it'll save you some money....go for it!

I've looked on the net. Not much on blems. What there is suggests DW releases them only if issue is solely cosmetic, and not mechanical/functional. Supposedly, the full warranty still applies (except to the finish). I'll do a little more digging, and if I can confirm the above, I will visit Shoot Straight once I sell the XD.

Have bought blems, I can not find anything wrong with them.
Buy a Blem with confidence. Youll be hard pressed too find the "Blem"
And YES, FULL WARRANTY applies to Blems
A Blem is a good chance to get a Dan Wesson at a DEAL! :D

Buy IT! You can have it refinished later when you have the spare money for about $150. So, you will still be ahead on price. Maybe go with Dark Dessert and be the first DW VBOB in duty dirt :)

Thanks for all the input!

When/If my XD sells I will go to the shop and hope they still have it. No need to refinish it. I could find absolutely nothing wrong with it (exterior).
