Vietnam Vet dies because of Sepis at Ok VA
Quote:
A Vietnam Veteran died on October 3rd at Talihina Veteran’s Center in Oklahoma from an infection known as sepsis. But it was also noted that the patient had maggots crawling in the wound. Four people have resigned in the wake of the investigation – one physician’s assistant, and 3 nurses (one of which was the Director of Nursing).
Owen Reese Peterson, 73, an Army Vietnam veteran, died at the facility after having an infection that turned into sepsis. Sepsis is life-threatening inflammation which can cause damage to the internal organs. He had only been there for a few weeks. The maggots were reportedly there while he was alive, but no one apparently did what they were supposed to do.
