That version is still available through Gerber but they require credentials of law enforcement or military activity.

There are some really nice knives here. I've dabbled a bit in knife-making, myself, and admire the skill and artistry of those custom blades.

Here's one I made last year--it's a 24 inch "sword" I made for my daughter to cut her wedding cake. (I hope I'm doing this right, and I apologize for the poor picture quality in advance....)

Additional details for anyone interested...it's O-1 tool steel, shaped by stock removal (grinders, files, and some machine milling), heat treated to about Rockwell 59. I had a bit of time constraint since my daughter asked me to make it only a month before her wedding, so I didn't have enough time to do anything fancy with the grip. Maybe next time... [Ha! I learned my lesson...there won't BE a next time! Making four identical edge grinds by hand is infinitely more difficult than just two on a regular knife.]

RandallZ, since you say that the handle is not fancy enough I think that you need to send the knife to me so you will not have to look at it any longer!!!!

It's my daughter's now, and she keeps it close at hand. She's 500 miles away. So, I'll have to pass your kind offer.
