I like the looks of the 45-70 Steel receiver.
Not sure I'd want to carry a brightly colored receiver in the woods

Henry are the chit!! I want to get my boy one a .22 when he gets older. Great guns.
FYI get the 44mag try to avoid the .357. They have issues cycling, they have a reputation for this. some guys get them they work perfect and some guys get them and they never cycle right at all. Good luck...enjoy!! FYI if its the shiney brass, it would not be a great woods rifle because it would stick out like a sore thumb.....just my opinion!

I have a 22 long rifle that I found for $329 at my local Wally World. It has a smooth lever action. I bought it for my grand children to shoot down the line, so I haven't tried it out yet.

Out of the box with no scope are really accurate, if just for the range and if you don't reload I would look at 22 ZLR or 17 HMR.

.357 for me, but only because I already reload for that caliber... and of course... you can shoot 38's too.

The manual says to not shoot 38spl that is below 158gr because it will cause feed failures. I'll just have to play around and see what it likes.
