Joe, just bought a sony cx405 palm corder. It records in their format, but also makes copies in mp4. I delete their file extensions and choose mp4 to put in the editor.

Not sure if that gives any direction however/

Nuff said.
My mom still has trouble with Comcast on demand.
I understand.

When you connect the video camera to your computer try burning them to the hard drive with windows media player. It would with mine save them in a format that would play on a dvd if burned to a disc.

What kind of video camera? The Sony ones create a "MOD" extension which is unlike other cameras.

It is a Sony HandiCam. Older one, like ten years old. And it's been a few years since I used it overseas. After I got a GoPro this thing kinda just sat around.

But I was always able to burn the files from this to my pc and then to dvd. They would play fine and in beautiful HD. But they still show up as individual files with small pics you chose to play. Like say if I put five or six videos from a certain day on a disc I could never get them to play continuously. One would play and then it would stop and go back to main menu where I'd have to click over on another and push play.
Either way it was better than the GoPro because I could never get those files to burn to disc and play on a tv.

I wonder if I take those files, import them to Windows Movie Maker and string them together before I burn to the CD....maybe it will play as a movie

Maybe?

I still have all the discs. When I put them in the dvd player all the files pop up with thumbnail images. I have to use the remote to click over and select one to play it.
I'm not savvy enough with stuff like this to have been able to get them to play all at once.

I take the files from the camera and place them in a folder on the desktop. Then open m/m, add the clips in the order you want, and edit from there, when you save to m/m, be sure to pick the option for dvd, not computer.

Might try that Joe,
