Default New Sixgun, Stocks and Leather

a while back I picked up my first flat top 44spl. before long I was in love (well, except for the hammer and trigger!) the fit and finish are perfect, the action was pretty smooth and the BC gap is almost non existent. I haven't had a chance test it on paper yet, just steel. but so far I couldn't be happier.

after a while I decided it needed a good set of stocks and a holster. first I dug through my Ivory box and found an oversized, 40 percent roughed out SAA panel I got from Boone trading when they were selling off all their Ivory. then I found a large cutoff from a tusk I worked with a while back. most people would probably have called it junk and scraped it since it was cracked at the top but these stocks will see a lot of use so I didn't mind the cracks. it's just character. I did fill the cracks with clear Epoxy so they won't get any worse though.

after fitting the stocks I started on the Holster. this is the second one I've made and while it turned out better than the first I still need some practice. it's Threepersons style I took from Will Ghormley's 1911 pattern. interestingly the dye I used on the holster was Tapadera's N-35 gunstock stain. it's meant to replicate the color used on vintage Winchester Rifles.

I couldn't decide which picture I liked best so just posed them all lol.

Jeesalu! that is beautiful. That ivory looks stunning on the deep blue...WOW. That is ART!!!

grizz leather is great. He made me my fullsize inside holster for 1911....did an amazing job too. One of my favorites....does great work.

Man that easy on the eyes to look at.

really like the picture of the gun hanging on the post with the leaver leaning against it....just beautiful. Stole that for a computer background rotation.
