I have a well worn Panther, which was an entry level DW. Fit is a bit loose from wear, but not sloppy. It's the most reliable 1911 I own. The most reliable pistol I've ever owned, in fact. It's the only one I can count on to get me through an IDPA match with zero malfunctions.
OH, and yes, it came with a plastic mainspring housing, which got replaced posthaste.

I think I have 5 DW's from this Era but no Patriots.
I always suspected their use of the external extractor would be short lived. It worried me a little to own one with a part that could eventually be hard to source. |

Hmmm.... Dave Severns sold me a DW Patriot a few years back. Easily the most accurate gun in my collection.
