Default A serious moment

I had a little medical procedure a couple weeks back and last week found out my surgeon is a retired Army Colonel, w/ 20 years of service. I met his wife today and found out he was also a POW in Nam for 6 years.

It's been many years since the war ended but I haven't forgotten what many of you went through. So once again THANKS, and welcome home.

And THANKS to those who served elsewhere or are still serving.

Howard

Roger that and you're welcome.

I was at a baptism on Sunday and the grandfather of the son being baptized was with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam and then the 82nd when he came back stateside. Couldn't help but extend my hand and thank him for his sacrifices and his service.

I secretly pay for meals if I'm at a eatery and see a vet wearing his his hat....another nice way of giving back to those that served!

Been doin' same for near twenty years. Now we go out with our kids on Memorial Day, Veterans' Day, 4th of July.....darn near every holiday....and we hit the local Friday's or any other place the kids pick. We play "pick the vet". Each kid tries to pick out a vet and make up their Military history. We stop by their table, Thank them, pay for them, and leave.

An old WWII Marine is at my South Carolina house right now. Met him here in South Florida. He was outta Parris Island when I was a toddler. Took his Garand and WWII 1911 up to my place to shoot. Gotta love an old vet.

Thanks!

I was at a roast that a bunch of old shipmates and I host annually down in Charleston SC last weekend. We raise money for the Semper Fi Fund for wounded Marines. About half of the crowd are Viet Nam era vets. I guess a couple hundred attend every year, and this year was our 42nd.

Great food and better company of shipmates from way back. Lots of stories and remembrances.

We try to keep the memory alive and to thank those who serve and have served.

Idiot that I am, I forgot to invite Cotep to the fun. Next year at Veterans Day, I will do so for any that can make it to Charleston.

You guys would like it.

Thanks again, XBonz.
