Default Winchester Trench Gun

Im awaiting pics or a call to go see it in prson, but was wanting to ask around about these....

I found a local guy who has a Winchester Trench Gun with a manufacturing date of 1919. Here is the description: "gun is missing the original heat sheild- not much finish on it-has the U.S. and flaming bomb stamp-no rust or pitting-locks up tight and shoots well-end of the barrel is threaded -has slamfire action-mfg.1919-ser#683xxx with E on top. Serial numbers match"

I will hopefully have some pics to add to this, but what are these things bringing now days without a decent original finish, but having matching numbers and not beat to death? He is asking 400.

Thanks for any info.

Don't know what they're worth today, but I got a civilian model for Cowboy Action Shooting several years ago and paid $100 for it, and it's in really good shape. Sounds like the one you're looking at is a bit over priced. Personally, I'd keep looking.

Went up on Guns America, and they sold one for almost $5,000. Wow, I was way off! Might be a golden opportunity for you, go for it, man!

, if it doesn't have the heat-shield.... buy the gun,not the story. The US Gov't also had both Model 97s and Model 12s made in a 'Riotgun' configuration for use by Guards at Civilian Defense Plants. A Win. Model 97 or Model 12 Trenchgun will have sling-swivels and a 1907 Sling in addition to the Heat-Shield. If they're not there, it's a Riotgun.

The last true 97 Trenchgun I saw sold for about $5,500.00, Model 12 Trenchguns go for about a grand less.
