Exactly, they will think the story and injuries were concocted to get the cop off. If you explain the injuries sustained by the cop and the preliminary finding then you don't allow the "hands up, don't shoot" to take root. Now it has grown beyond the incident and is being used as an excuse regardless of the facts of the case.

Never the less, what happened was unfortunate and shouldn't have happened.

Just my opinion.
I just hate to agree with but I think this is a true statement. To release what they know as soon they know makes the public feel better.

Nah. Soon as the TV cameras hit the streets, these folks new they had a gullible partner to spew.

You make a good point; but, I think the looting, protests and consequent expenditures would not have been avoided with earlier disclosure of some of the facts. The protests started right away, followed shortly thereafter by looting, tossing bottles, etc. And, contrary to the family's attorneys, who can say whatever they want whether accurate or not, the authorities have to wait for investigations to be concluded, facts established beyond some degree of doubt, etc. before they can come forth with statements.

Look at it this way, the available facts are now out there via the autopsies, the statement about injuries to the officer, yet the protests and looting continue. The facts didn't stop or slow it down. Just my take on it.
