Not sure if this is the appropriate sub-forum but women don't listen anyway and I had to share this
![]() Today, I was invited to shoot with some friends on private land. While there, one of the guys asked me to work with his wife. They have both been around guns for a long time but have had no formal training aside from the CHL class. She purse carries a full size M&P but recently bought a compact 9mm to carry on body (my preferred method as I despise purse carry). I worked with her on some basic drills on point shooting, drawing from concealment, and reloading. I wasn't focused so much on teaching her the skills due to time constraint but rather the importance of good training and practice. I wanted her to understand that I could seriously hurt her with a blade before she got that gun drawn, that she has to be able to get off the sights under pressure in short distance), situational awareness, etc. Anyhow, I saw that light-bulb moment happen. She got it. I am certainly not a qualified instructor, but I went over some of the things I've learned and she realized how much there is too learn. I've done several advanced pistol courses, force on force, simunition, a couple of Brownie's classes, etc and I still have much to learn. She is definitely interesting taking formal training and showed an interest in possibly taking hand to hand training if she can practice more. I worked briefly with one of the other wives that was there and they both asked me if I could shoot with them on Friday to work with them some more. I obviously said yes that I can help with some stuff but I am no substitute for an qualified instructor. I love seeing the moment when a woman "gets it" and wants to train. I am so proud ![]() Picture is of today when I first started working with her, shots got much better as she went. ![]() |
