Default Hearing Protection Curiousity Question

No one appears to be online and I'm getting the family ready to send out to a Monster Truck Show in Hartford. Putting together "ears" for all of them. I'm not going. I'm staying home. Quiet time is good. But as I put the headsets in a backpack, I wondered:

"What do y'all use for hearing protection? I'm using a set of cheap Winchesters in the 27 db range ($15), have a pair of 30db ($25) that are Mrs.... The range is incredible, from .50 cent foam plugs to $300+ electronics.

So... what brand/style do YOU use? And would you recommend them to others?

Da

I use a Silencio muff that has a strap that can be worn over the head or behind the head. It has served me well and I would recommend them. They are not bad for the $20.00 price. I have used more expensive ones but personally I did not notice a difference.

I use custom molded plugs. EARinc.com Guy comes to the range about twice a year.

They do a good job. kind of like this....

Oh I have a variety. I have the winchester muffs, probably the same ones your talking about from walmart. I also use foam, they are free from work. Then I have some custom molds from when I was at the quarry.

I have a pair of Howard Leight's Leightning L3, and the wife has a set of Remington's (Radians). I usually end up wearing foam earplugs. They seem to block out more noise and are more comfortable to wear for longer.

I have a bunch..from generic muffs I picked up over the years, to a set of Pelico electronics..found out not to use those on an indoor range real quick.

I use a set of foam plugs and a set of 31 db muffs together. I have already lost too much of my hearing from jet engines over the years, so I protect what I have left. n

Because they don't have the time to "reset" when the echo bounces back off the walls..they block out the shot, but not the echo..
