Default Further load development

Well, as some of you may remember, I'm working up a defensive load with Rainier 230gr.JHPs. The batch of loads I chrono'd today were using Unique powder and, based on how next weekends' waterjug testing goes, I may have a winner.

Weather Conditions;
Skies-Clear
Temp. 70 degrees
Humidity at 30%

All velocities taken ten feet from the muzzle
All bullets were seated to 1.220" OAL with a .470 crimp

6.2 grains of Unique- 866fps ave velocity with a SD of 13.

6.3 grains of Unique- 887fps ave velocity with a SD of 20.

6.4 grains of Unique- 912fps ave velocity with a SD of 30.

6.5 grains of Unique- 875fps ave velocity with a SD of 16.

The 6.5 grain load puzzles me. Never had velocity go down with an increase in charge-weight. No pressure signs at any charge-weight.

Going to load another five rounds at 6.5 grains next weekend to see if it can be replicated. Water tests for the 6.3 and 6.4 grain loads next weekend also. The first two loads ran right at 2" on a 25 yard target, the 6.4 grain load ran 3". The 6.5 grain load ran about 2.5". All shooting was done two-handed from a rest.
