Hi all, thought you might like a range report on the newest addition to the stable. I found a pristine Dan Wesson Patriot in the hands (or more appropriately safe) of Severn's Customs in Nevada. Below are a couple of pictures for your perusal.
![]() ![]() ![]() Fit and finish: They say that the Pointman started it all, and the Patriot took it from there. Or is it the other way around?? The Patriot has an external extractor, as does my Sig GSR. The purists will groan.... but that's ok, I've never had an issue with the external extractor. There is not a mark on this pistol. Dave told me that it has all of fifty rounds through it (not anymore tho....). No vertical or horizontal movement in the slide (that I can see).... very tight tolerances. There are a couple of addons.... The sear is a stainless sear, and my calibrated fingers put the pressure at about 3.5 pounds. I'll prove it if I ever buy a trigger pull thingy. (professional descriptions here eh?). The hammer is a skeletonized CMC hammer, and the front sight is an "early Severns Custom" fiber optic. Rear sight is the standard adjustable target for this model, but has the "Dan Wesson" name imprinted on the side. The gun comes stock with a two piece, Full length guide rod (FLGR for those who like acronyms). I like acronyms, but not sure I like two piece guide rods. Its supposed to make the gun more accurate.... lessen recoil.... and make disassembly easier. Don't know about all that.... but we'll see. Oh yes.... a match grade barrel. and two Chip McCormick 8 round Power mags. ![]() ![]() ![]() Shooting: These photos are at 10 yards. The first fifty were Winchester white box, 230gr hardball, second fifty were my Montana Gold JHP 230gr over 5.4 grains of Universal Clays. Tula primers. If IIIIIIIIIII can shoot like this with this pistol, imagine what a professional shooter can do. All the targets looked similar. I would have gone out to 50 feet, but I can't see that far anymore! EVERY Patriot produced was test fired at the factory's range. The gun is clamped in a bench rest and test fired for accuracy. Any gun that wouldn't shoot 1.5" at 50' went back for more work. This gun obviously passed. ![]() ![]() FTF: What's that? FTE: What's that? Stovepipe: Whats that? Finally, because everyone likes gun porn.... some dirty pictures of this Dan Wesson classic. ![]() ![]() ![]() All in all.... this will likely take its place as one of my best enjoyed 1911's and I intend to have it a very very long time. I'll consider a standard guide rod and plug, but I'm in no hurry.... this will never be a daily carry firearm. Da ![]()

I like it Michael. Put a standard FLGR in amd ditch the two piece...they tend to loosen up
