The logic on this morning's TV debate was that non immunized kids could spread the disease or virus. OK, fair enough, but they can only spread it to other kids whose parents chose to not immunize. So the only sick kids would be the ones whose parents said no to the needle. I'm OK with that. My kids are immunized, they would be fine. Oh, and that whole autism argument... it's BS....my wife is a pharmacist and a chemist...she understands the science not the television hype...our kids get shots.

I was this morning having an internal debate on this... I'm totally divided. I get the constitutional state rights debate, but it is also the state who runs with the cost of facing epidemics... We definitely don't live in an island. I guess it is and will be a centuries old debate, how much the government/society has to intervene in personal lives.

 ), It isn't just kids whose parents choose not to immunize who are at risk. There are kids who for medical reasons cannot receive certain vaccines. Their risk of infection is increased if a greater percentage of the (kid) population chooses not to vaccinate. There is also risk to babies who are too young to have received the full course of the vaccines, and are therefore still at risk of infection from these "chooser" kids. By way of example, the measles vaccine is not recommended until the age of 12 months. Where do kids whose parents choose not to vaccinate run when their little darling is ill? To the pediatrician. Who else is in the waiting room? Tiny little tykes who've not yet had all their vaccinations. It can be a big problem. I understand the individual/parent's right argument. But, choosing not to vaccinate your kid is borne of ignorance. IMHO (feel free to disagree) these parents are typically selfish, me-first and-to-heck-with-the-rest-O'you types as well.
